Bolton

boltonslideLooking across the county Bolton borough has escaped direct cuts fire engine wise. Crew sizes will be reduced in Bolton as they will across the whole brigade and this raises concerns around the safety of both firefighters and public. Rumworth which is considered a high risk ward will have to waiting longer for a fire engine as will Westhoughton South which is considered low risk.

Many high risk and the one very high risk ward within the borough will see the attendance times reduced. It is unclear how this is to be achieved as there will be no extra resources within the area so it is assumed that these improvements are aspirational.

Ultimately Bolton borough will be affected by the plan, the neighboring areas of Wigan and Bury have been hit by cuts and could rely on fire engines from Bolton to help plug the gaps left. When support is required within the borough this could be delayed as fire engines may have to travel further and take longer to arrive.

Contact your MPs & Councilors to express your concerns about the reduction in service you will receive if this plan in approved.
